Susan Kaer, Director

Chartered MCIPD, MISMA, MInstLM

Susan has worked in learning and development since 1989, with a variety of organisations from the public, private and charity sectors. She formed Understanding People in 2006 to support organisations and individuals in times of change. Organisational research established that many organisations manage change in a reactive manner, often when it is too late and individuals are underperforming. She learned from personal experience, and work with organisations, how damaging excessive stress can be to individuals' well-being, not to mention organisational performance! Susan quickly established that individuals needed to be empowered by applying strategies that built resilience, so that they positively embraced change, and took control and responsibility for their lives, and bright new future!

For the last 18 years she has designed and delivered diverse courses and workshops, including:

  • management and leadership skills
  • communication skills
  • interpersonal skills
  • appraisals and performance management

More recent projects have focussed on supporting companies and individuals to embrace change and promote positive strategies to counter negative or unproductive reactions to change.

Susan is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a member of the International Stress Management Association, and a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management. She is also a licensed practitioner of NLP, holds Certificates in Business and Personal Coaching, and Diplomas in Stress Management Training and Organisational Stress Management.  In addition, Susan has recently trained as a Smoking Cessation Adviser.

Susan is passionate about Understanding People, a passion shared by all associate members of the team.
